Principal Investigators and/or Lab Supervisors are responsible for making sure that any laboratory personnel have the proper training. The University's SciShield system will populate training requirements for each individual based on assigned work activities.
Principal Investigators should access the Members tab for their lab and add all researchers that are active in the space, using the "Manage Job Activities" function to accurately track what hazards they work with.
At a minimum, all lab personnel are required to take New Laboratory Researcher Training or New Laboratory Researcher Training for Undergraduates. If your lab uses or houses any chemicals, personnel must also take Hazardous Waste Generator Training annually.Â
Note: Keys and card access will NOT be provided to any individual until proof of appropriate training has been documented.
